Dear TA C.It' s been told that, back in the early days of the Old West, there existed wild herds of jackasses and horses. Both groups shared the wolf as a common enemy, but each group defended itself in a different manner. The horses, when attacked, would form a circle with their heads toward the center and, therefore, present a wall of kicking hooves, as a formidable defense against the wolves. The jackasses, on the other hand, would form a circle facing the enemy and, in their panic, begin kicking each other. The moral of this story, as it pertains to chiropractors, is that it's about time we stop acting like jackasses: put our heads together, and expend our energies, time and money on fighting opposition from outside our profession. Has anyone considered what will happen to chiropractic, when physia-trists start adjusting, and physical therapists get doctorates and become primary care providers? Will we still be facing the wolves and kicking each other? J. Michael Weir. D.C.
