I t's almost 2006. By the time this appears, it may even be 2006. As we wind 2005 to a close and prepare our goals and resolutions for the coming year (and that is, in fact, the first key to achieving the practice and life of your dreams) the big question is, "Am 1 any closer to manifesting my Vision or am I just one year older?" This is, for many, a painful question. And, because we seek to avoid pain and move toward pleasure, you may want to turn this page and read an advertisement, instead; or turn on the television—anything but bear the discomfort of looking at yourself, your practice, your life. But, wait.... If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always gotten.. .only LESS. Why less? Because managed care keeps changing reimbursement values, the cost of living keeps going up, and we all keep getting older. What kind of a motivational piece is this? The kind designed to wake you up! You see, INSANITY is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. And so, if you aren't willing to STOP, IDENTIFY what is standing in the way of your changing, and APPLY the change formula—the 3 A's: Awareness, Acceptance, and Action—then, one year from now. when you read this article (or one like it) again, you'll be one year older and just as dissatisfied and uncomfortable about the state of your practice and your unmet dreams as you arc now. BUT, if you are willing to "bear the discomfort" of looking within yourself and unlocking the master healer within You, then we can help make CHANGE stick in 2006. So, here goes: 7 STEPS FOR SUCCESS IN 2006 LOOK in the mirror—honestly. What's my VISION for my practice (or my life)? Write it down. What is the present condition of my practice—new patients, income, fully-trained magnificent staff, equipment, physical plant, on-going marketing plan? 3. What would you LOVE to change about it to move it closer to your Vision? Be specific. What would YOU need to be, do, or have to move closer to your Vision? What—or Who—is standing in the way of Your making the changes necessary to build the DREAM? 6. What plan, skills, or materials would You need to be, do or have to build the DREAM? 7. Who will hold you accountable, so that you actually keep your word and take the steps necessary to build the DREAM? Building a successful practitioner requires training and coaching on both sides of the coin—clinical skills/technique, equipment, nutrition, homeopathy— whatever Your heart tells you is the next piece of your personal WELLNESS puzzle—and the business skills, from goal setting (like this article), to staff training, to service and package pricing—because one thing we know for sure: If you don't have a WELLNESS CARE PLAN in your practice, you'll never be able to offer it to your patients. You can't sell what you don't own. And, to be sure...your patients and your community want it.. .and they are ready, willing, and able to spend green money, out of their pockets, to be coached into wcllness. Are you ready now? Will you be ready one year from now? Think about it. A success/ill chiropractor, nutritionist, acupuncturist.
