S coliosis, back pain, headaches and more! Yes all in one issue, you'll find the latest solutions and treatment techniques for these most popularly "chiropractic" conditions. Ironically, scoliosis which immediately brings to mind the need for chiropractic care among the public, is one of the conditions that chiropractors oftentimes are not fully prepared to address without first seeking specialized education on the subject outside of their chiropractic college education. Currently, technique instruction on this condition is fairly limited in the academic programs of most chiropractic schools. Fortunately, we're seeing more interest and education available for you to be able to offer your patients the best patient care on this devastating condition. Beginning on page 24, Dr. Dennis Woggon shares tips and pre- and post-X-rays of what kind of patient results you can expect with his exciting treatment program for scoliosis. Dr. Allan Oolo Austin's article on page 46 gives us insight into his specific Olympic experience, while also emphasizing a very important lesson he's learned through his experience: "It is not about one technique or treatment being better than the other.... It is about how all of the techniques work better together and [knowing] when each different technique should be applied." Find our more about his experiences working with health care physicians from around the world to help Olympic athletes achieve optimal performance, and I'm sure you'll realize that this is how chiropractors and other health professionals should be working with all types of patients on a daily basis for optimal results! And, complementing our technique focus, on page 12, our Innovations article by attorney Matthew Powell focuses on "How to Win a Trial with Objective Proof of Your Patient's Injury," with the new software by DXAnalyzer. In essence, this software helps you easily digitize your patients' X-rays and assess the percentage of impairment in accordance with the AM A Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment. The implications that this software and this type of technology have for raising the credibility of the chiropractic profession as well as improving communication with your patients on the severity of their conditions and their progress is really amazing. Read about it and let us know what you think! And this issue wouldn't be complete without an article addressing the prevention of recurring subluxations. So be sure to read Dr. Freddie Ulan's article beginning page 48 to see what kind of nutritional analysis you can implement in your practice to help keep your patients' subluxations from coming back! On a final note, to enhance credibility for our profession and improve communication with media sources both inside and outside of the chiropractic profession, The American Chiropractor has applied for BPA Worldwide membership as of March 2006.
