Sinusitis Treatment without Antibiotics
Steven Frank
If you suffer from chronic sinusitis and have been through multiple courses of antibiotics, then you know the many problems associated with the antibiotic approach. Antibiotics leave you with intestinal problems and often yeast infections, while they only get rid of the sinus infection for six months or so. When it returns, you have to try a different antibiotic and that one will cost more and make you feel worse. So why is this cycle escalating? Why aren't you winning the war when you frequently win the battles? The answer to this question is simply that the antibiotic solution does more harm than good. It shifts the fauna and flora of bacteria in your sinuses to the ones that are not so easily killed by the antibiotics and leaves you with a more formidable foe after each round.111 Additionally, antibiotics are taken systemically, which means that they course through your entire body when you
only need them in your sinuses. This distorts all of the fauna in your body and can lead to a yeast infection. What's a sinus sufferer to do?
Why do my infections keep returning?
Glad you asked. The problem is twofold. First, you are fighting the symbiotic relationship of fungus and bacteria with an active agent that kills only the bacteria. Second, the active agent that you are using to kill the bacteria kills only some of the bacteria.121 Those that are not susceptible to your chosen antibiotic will take over the feeding grounds of those that you have killed, leaving you with a fauna of germs that you cannot kill. This is really a recipe for how to take a bad neighborhood and make it worse by killing off only the weakest of criminals.131
Let's explore the first point. Your sinuses are
host to many fungi. They thrive on the mucopolysaccharides (mucus) that line your sinus passage and produce exotoxins that irritate the sinus membranes. Your immune system does its best to kill these invaders, but this is a constant battle because every breath that you take will contain molds. What makes this problem worse is the fact that the fungus produces a platform of insulation on which the bacteria can live and thrive. The bacteria can digest the conversion of the mucopolysaccharides by the fungus and live on top of them. In this manner, they are insulated from your immune system and from the drugs that you would take to reach them since those drugs are distributed through your microcapillary bed.
So you see, to approach the problem of sinusitis with merely an antibioticto kill the bacteria is only half the solution. You need an antifungal as well to attenuate the population of molds (fungi) that inhabityour sinuses and insulate the bacteria from the reach of your immune system. You also must deliver this killing agent to areas that your blood system cannot reach.
Now for the second part. It is very important to choose an antimicrobial that will kill all of the bacteria. Antibiotics work in three discrete manners and can kill three different groups of bacteria.(4) Each type of antibiotic will kill only a portion of the fauna leaving the survivors to take over the nutritional sinus tissue that the killed bacteria have abandoned. What you want is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that kills all types of bacteria as evenly as possible so that you don't just kill the easy ones.
Ah, so you ask, "Where can I find such an active agent that kills fungus and all types of bacteria?"
The right antimicrobial
Glad you asked. As it turns out, a pure aqueous colloid of silver is both antifungal and antibacterial. Yes, it is more effective against the bacteria than it is against the fungus. It takes longer to kill the fungus. Yes, it kills some bacteria better than others, but it does kill them all, and the difference is not that large. Better still, when this pure aqueous colloid of silver is of sufficient potency (greater than 35 ppm) and is mixed with a surfactant to
enhance penetration into cells (such as Tween-20) it is phenomenally effective showing kill ratios in the laboratory of greater than 1,000,000 :1 in less than 20 minutes.(5)
In the right place
Clinical studies have shown that this enhanced colloid of silver is able to terminate sinus infections in a week or less, and that is far better than sinus surgery or antibiotics. It also can be sprayed directly into the sinuses, so it doesn't have to be taken systemically. Applying it locally (where it's needed) means that you don't have to ingest enough to fill your whole body with it, as you would with antibiotics. So you don't have to endure the damage of powerful antibiotics coursingthrough your entire body killing beneficial and malicious bacteria everywhere. You apply it only where the infection is occurring—in your nose.
With the right protocol
Of course, since you have a sinus infection, the mucosal flow is pretty large. This will flush the antimicrobial from the area in less than 10 minutes. It is paramount to the success of this therapy that the nasal/sinus environment be replenished with the antimicrobial agent every 20 to 30 minutes. This can be accomplished easily by spraying the active agent into your sinuses while inhaling every 20 to 30 minutes. This reapplication on a regular basis is necessary for the success of the therapy. If it's not there, it can't work. As described in Managing Sinus Health: Clearing Sinus Infections Without Antibiotics, an important point to remember is that bacteria and fungus can double their popula-
tion every 20 minutes.(6) So if you spray only once every hour, the population will have rebounded and you will not make any continuing progress. Spray, spray, spray. Some is good, but more is better.
So you see, the balanced holistic approach to sinusitis rests with using the right active agent, in the right concentration, in the right place, and with the right protocol. If you do this, you will attenuate the fungus and the bacteria without leaving a worse situation behind. You will reestablish the balance of power in your nose. This is indeed the point of treating sinusitis in a holistic manner using Sinus Relief from Nature's Rite.
Supercharge your neti pot
If you appreciate the benefit of using a neti pot, you will understand that it reaches the most remote caverns of your sinuses on the first day. Now there is an enhanced silver colloid designed especially for use in neti pots called Super Neti Juice. Itappliesthat natural antibacterial and antifungal power directly to the sinus
mucosa. You can fill your sinuses with the Super Neti Juice and then close off your nose with your fingers. Sitting this way for five or 10 minutes twice a day will kill more bacteria and fungus in a day than antibiotics will kill in a week.
