Stress and Poor Digestion
Keith Giaquinto
If you are feeling heavy, sleepy, and/or bloated 60 minutes after you eat a meal; if you know that your body reacts poorly to certain foods like dairy, grains or meat; if you have an autoimmune condition or any chronic unresolved health problem, then you may have weak digestion and your body is malnourished. One or a combination of these four things can contribute to your body having weak digestion. They are: • Poor diet (high in processed and GMO foods)
• High stress level or poorly managed stress • Subluxations • Enzyme deficiencies
Stress to most people and doctors seems to be a vague word. Accordingto multiple Nobel Prize nominee, Dr. Hans Seyle, stress is very specific. He spent over 50 years researching stress and its effects on the body. To him, stress came from a mechanical, emotional and/ or nutritional source, and stress is the only condition we need to fight. All other health challenges come from stress.
To the body, it does not matter what source or form of stress is placed on it (mechanical, emotional, or nutritional). The body is going to react the exact same way every time. Stress stimulates the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight mode) and the adrenal glands. Stress burns more nutrition, creates more waste and uses up our enzymes faster. If the stress is not removed or managed better, the body will become sympathetically dominant. Sympathetic dominance can cause weak digestion, insomnia, headaches, sinus challenges, or allergies and subluxations. Weak digestion can then lead to leaky gut, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and bowel toxicity. Leaky gut and bowel toxicity then leads to many, many other health challenges.
As you can see, there is a domino effect that stems from stress that negatively impacts the body. This is why the first thing anyone needs to do to begin to heal is to identify and manage the source of stress on their body. If you don't find and manage the source of stress better, your body simply won't heal. It really is that simple.
Eating organic food, chewing each bite thoroughly when you eat, and taking digestive enzymes can help to strengthen your digestion. Regular chiropractic adjustments help to pull the body out of sympathetic dominance and minimize subluxations. Being an expert on your stress and your body is really where health begins.
“if you don't put doily energy and effort into your health, don't expect it to hang around. ”
We are holistic beings, anything can cause anything in the body. Rounding out your stress, diet, and lifestyle are the habits needed for health and longevity. Health is a relationship between you and your body. Just like any relationship, you need to put daily energy and effort into it, to have a great one. If you don't put daily energy and effort into your health, don't expect it to hang around. There are no magic bullets or quickfixes when it comes to health.
Adding supplemental enzyme nutrition to your practice can help your patient heal quicker, support a strong digestive system and a healthy immune response.
