The Best Kept Secret about Reproductive Problems

I would say that becoming a parent is the ultimate life experience. The sleep deprivation, the laughter, worry, fun, the testing of one’s patience, the ability to mold a mini-you and the ongoing educational process are all part of the journey of being a parent. Most couples do not have any problems when it comes to the ability to have kids. But for some, getting pregnant can be a real challenge.
According to the CDC, 7.3 million, or 12%, of women in child-bearing years have a difficult time getting pregnant or staying pregnant. Couples that have a challenge getting pregnant often turn to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The success rate of having a child through IVF can be anywhere from 20% to 60% and depends on many variables, the most critical of which is a woman’s age. IVF can cost tens of thousands of dollars per round. While this approach is a viable option for some, others may not have the means to expend on IVF. I am sure we have all heard stories about how so and so got pregnant

So what causes reproductive challenges for a woman or a man with low sperm count?
The answer is hormones. The sex hormones have all the control. The cause of hormonal imbalance and infertility is energy deficiencies caused by chronic stress. Long-term or lingering stress on the body causes structural imbalances and malnourished sex organs. The structural and nutritional components are the same for both genders.
A common clinical syndrome seen in chiropractic offices is the complaint of low back pain radiating into the testes of men or into the lower pelvic region of females. Invariably, the radiation of pain into the groin may cause much more concern for males than for females. I suspect that, while uncomfortable, females have been conditioned to expect problems in that area of the anatomy, whereas males expect “the worst” of such problems.
We often hear of so-called “male menopause,” which may seem a questionable condition to many, with the suggestion that men can suffer from many of the same menopausal symptoms thatwomen do. In my opinion, such a syndrome is a reality because both systems rely on adequate fat digestion and utilization. The human reproductive system, both male and female, relies on the proper digestion and assimilation of fat to function normally.

The body prefers to get its primary energy source from carbohydrates. However, here is the secret; lingering stress on the body causes
a different cascade of physiology to take place. Stress comes in three forms: mechanical, emotional and nutritional. It is irrelevant to the brain what form or combination of stress is placed on the body. The brain will handle stress exactly the same way every time. For example, stress can result from poor posture and subluxations, relationship issues, a poor diet, or the body’s inability to digest and absorb food eaten due to enzyme deficiencies, even if it’s from a clean diet. To the brain, stress is stress. The only way the body has to fight stress is with more nutrition. Identifying stress and managing it better is the key. Without proper management of stress, the body burns through nutrition like a forest fire with a 100 MPH tailwind. You cannot put food in your mouth fast enough for the body to keep up with the stress. The secret is to first find the stress and manage it better.
The chronicity of the stress is the key. Under stress, the adrenal secretes the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol tells the cells in the body to stop burning carbohydrates for fuel and, instead, to send all of their amino acids to the liver. The liver will then convert the amino acids into glucose. When the cells become deficient in amino acids, the body then turns to fat for energy. The lingering stress will then burn through the fat, which makes the body fatty-acid deficient. What organ needs the fat to make its hormones? The reproductive organs.
This is the answer to your infertility problem: find the stress, minimize and/or help the patient manage it better, improve his or her diet, strengthen digestion with food enzymes, and supplement a good source of essential fatty acids to nourish the reproductive system and you will have one happy patient.
