Birth Choices Matter

Today I had a new patient, thirty-three weeks pregnant. The baby was breech and she wanted that to change.

When I asked her what made her choose my office, she said her current chiropractor referred her, since I am certified in the Webster Technique.

I then wanted to know her plan for birth. Would it be in a hospital? Would she choose an epidural? Would she be patient if her baby was overdue? That sort of thing.

I found myself in one of those right place, right time moments. I told her briefly how I said yes to an induction plus epidural with my first daughter, and a C-section with my second. I also let her know that when it came time for my third, I gave a middle finger to all of that stuff and had her at home in a pool, 10 days after her due date.

The third one was by far my favorite, for sure, so I definitely let her know that.

So, I did what I do as a chiropractor with optimism and sent her on her way.

I never know how quickly the outcomes will be, but things changed in that room and I cannot wait to see the results.

What I do know is that I was able to share my experience to make a difference in someone’s life today and that is what it’s all about!
