Chiropractor Sentenced in Multimillion-Dollar Healthcare Fraud
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Clarence Brown III, a 48-year-old chiropractor who owned and operated Dr. CB3 Wellness and Apex Integrated Medical Center in Chicago’s West Loop, was sentenced to five years and ten months in federal prison on November 19, 2025, for orchestrating a $2.1 million healthcare fraud scheme. Brown was convicted in April 2024 of federal health care fraud charges after submitting thousands of false claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and other insurers between 2016 and 2020.
The scheme involved billing for chiropractic services and physical therapy that were never provided, using patient information obtained through free health screenings at community events. Prosecutors presented evidence that Brown directed employees to fabricate treatment records and inflate bills, defrauding insurers and contributing to higher premiums for policyholders. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge John F. Kness ordered Brown to pay over $2.1 million in restitution. The U.S. Attorney’s Office highlighted the case as part of ongoing efforts to combat healthcare fraud in the Northern District of Illinois, emphasizing the betrayal of trust in medical professionals.
Brown’s attorney argued for leniency citing his community contributions, but the judge noted the scheme’s scale and duration. This sentencing underscores the severe consequences for fraudulent billing in chiropractic practices, potentially deterring similar misconduct nationwide.

Chiropractor Charged with Additional Sexual Misconduct Offense
GRAND MEADOW, MINNESOTA: Dillon Carter Denisen, a 43-year-old former chiropractor from Grand Meadow, Minnesota, was charged with a new felony count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct on December 1, 2025, in Mower County District Court. The complaint alleges Denisen inappropriately touched a client during free adjustment sessions from March 2011 to March 2018 and performed non-consensual oral sex in 2020, exploiting the professional relationship under the guise of treatment.
This charge follows a similar accusation filed in June 2025, with prosecutors noting additional victim accounts in September and October 2025. Denisen’s chiropractic license was previously revoked amid prior allegations. He pleaded not guilty, with a court appearance set for January 9, 2026, facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The case stems from a broader investigation into sexual misconduct in healthcare, highlighting power imbalances between providers and patients. Denisen’s defense claims the interactions were consensual, but authorities emphasize the non-consensual nature and pattern of behavior. This development signals increased scrutiny of chiropractic practices, with advocates calling for stronger safeguards and mandatory ethics training to protect vulnerable clients.

Chiropractor Sentenced for Possession and Distribution of Child Sex Abuse
Material
KINGSTON, NEW YORK: John Boyle III, a chiropractor from Kingston, New York, who pleaded guilty earlier in 2025 to possessing and distributing child sex abuse material, was arrested on November 15, 2025, on new charges of assaulting his 19-month-old child while out on bail awaiting sentencing. Ulster Town police alleged Boyle struck the toddler several times in the face. Boyle had previously pleaded guilty in June 2025 to charges involving thousands of images and videos shared with his wife, with sentencing originally scheduled for December. The new assault charge adds to the gravity of his legal troubles, as he awaits further proceedings. Prosecutors highlighted the breach of trust and the endangerment of a vulnerable child, while Boyle’s case has drawn attention to the intersection of professional misconduct and personal accountability. This incident underscores the potential for licensed professionals to face compounded consequences when personal actions compound prior criminal admissions, prompting calls for stricter monitoring of professionals on bail in sensitive cases.
