Remembering Thomas Eynon: Local chiroprac­tors step in to keep clinic running By Reese gordon rgordon <v new s-jonrmil.com Numerous local chiropractors have stepped in to keep open a Longview clinic operated by a man killed in a Saturday wreck as donations pour in to his family. Tom Kynon. 43. of White Oak died after he lost control of his vehicle on U.S. 271 just south of KM 16 in Smith County. His son. Aiden. 5. died Tuesday at a medical center in Dallas from injuries sustained in the crash. People of all ages have brought flowers, cards and hugs to Eynon's staff at Elder Chiropractic Clinic. Kynon's brother-in-law, Robb Billups, said Wednesday that $31,000 has been raised in support of Eynon's wife and three remaining children. Elder Chiropractic Office Manager Allison Cameron said Wednesday that the outpouring of love and support since Eynon's death has been amazing. "I Kindreds of people have come up since Saturday." she said. "They come in to comfort us. They want to feel the presence of Dr. Kynon. which is in this office." Cameron said she worked with Eynon for more than 17 years. "People fell in love with Dr. Eynon," she said. "He had so many facets. He was a man of wisdom but was also zany and funny. He was always making people laugh. He was over-the-top one of the best people ever." Sitting in the office Wednesday at Elder Chiropractic, David Fisher said he at­tended Fellowship Bible Church in Longview with Eynon. "I Ie was a big supporter of our men's ministry at the church." Fisher said. "And he always had a way of making things memorable. He was a big kid at heart." Fisher said he had been a regular patient of Eynon's since rupturing a disc in his back in 1991. "He kept me out of the hospitals on multiple occasions." Fisher said. "I have been through four hack surgeries and some shoulder surgeries. I have three ruptured discs in mv neck, and he helped me avoid cervical fusion." While Fisher said he often saw Eynon for treatment more than once a week, he was never charged. "I've been a missionary and done work in other countries, and Tom was a big supporter of that," Fisher said. "So his support to me was he didn't charge me." Fisher said he last saw Eynon this past week. "I got rear-ended and started to develop some neck pain." he said. " I w as head­ing to Mississippi the next day, and he saw me on that Wednesday. I got the news of his death when I was still in Mississippi, and it's just something that you don't want to believe." Barbara Hunter, a retired chiropractor, took time to evaluate Eynon's patients Monday and Wednesday. She is one of about 20 chiropractors who are seeing patients at the clinic. xmgview cliiropractor Laurie Pearce saw patients Tuesday. "I heard that the clinic was needing chiropractors to help out. and I had the time," Hunter said. "I knew there was a need." Hunter said she knew Eynon for 17 years. "He was a wonderful man," she said. "He was giving and generous of every­thing he had" A Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said this week that two of Eynon's three daughters were injured in the wreck but are in stable condition at a Dallas medical center. Source: www.theamericanchiropractor.com Sussex chiropractor pleads guilty to destroying patient records NEWARK A Sussex County chiropractor has pleaded guilty to destroying patient records that were being sought by federal agents investigating possible billing fraud at her medical office. U.S. Attorney Paul I'ishman announced. Mary Jean Xegri. 57. of I .afayette pleaded guilty before I '.S. District Judge Katha­rine Hayden to one count of obstructing an investigation of a health care offense. Negri admitted discarding the patient appointment records after she discovered in May 2012 that the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office were investigating the Lafayette Hilltop Chiropractic Center for potentially fraudulent billing practices, according to a news release from the I'. S. Attorney's Office. "Xegri suspected that investigators were interested in obtaining I^afayette Hilltop's patient appointment books as evidence of potential fraud. In an effort to obstruct the government's investigation, she discarded those patient appointment books." the release states. Negri. a registered nurse and licensed chiropractor, has owned I ,ala\ ette Hilltop on Route 15 for the past 24 years. Negri faces up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, or twice the gain or loss caused by the offense. She is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 29.
