Chiropractor Sports Physicals Bill Passes State Assembly in Wisconsin
news
Assembly Bill 260 - the bill that requires Wisconsin school districts, technical colleges and two year state colleges to accept sports physicals performed by chiropractors - passed the Wisconsin State Assembly the 21st of June.
Despite strong opposition from the medical establishment, the WCA Government Affairs team and the bill's author State Representative Chuck Wichgers were able to secure the votes necessary for passage.
"We are deeply appreciative that the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly were able to see past the misleading and inaccurate arguments of opponents and pass this bill," said Dr. Rod Letter, WCA President. "AB 260 will give Wisconsin chiropractors additional clinical tools
they need to provide even better care for their patients."
The bill now moves to the State Senate where it will be referred to committee for another round of hearings and possible floor action.
"The fight now moves to the Wisconsin State Senate where we will have to refute many of the same inaccurate arguments from opponents who say chiropractic education and clinical experience is not good enough to allow Wisconsin chiropractors to perform sports physicals," said John Murray, WCA Executive Director. "We will alert WCA members when to time is right to contact their State Senators on this bill."
