IN BRIEF
The Next Generation of Chiropractic Legends

I graduated from chiropractic school sometime around the fall of the Roman Empire. As a result, I had the privilege of meeting some of the great pioneers of our profession — the legends of chiropractic, including James Parker, Sid Williams, Reggie Gold, Fred Barge, Charlie Ward, and my all-time favorite, Dr. Jim Zigafoos. They were all great chiropractors, but you know something? They weren’t better chiropractors than you!

They were not better chiropractors than you. You know what made them great? Their love for chiropractic — that deep-seated passion they had for what we do and their commitment to being part of something that was bigger than themselves. That’s what made them great!

They had so much conviction and defined purpose, and they were so dedicated to the cause. All they did was live and breathe chiropractic, and most importantly, they had love in their hearts. Their sole purpose in life was to love and serve, and that’s what made them great — not their adjusting skills.

All of us have that inherent greatness inside of us too, but it needs to be tapped into, woken up, and acted upon!

Don’t be that person who looks back on your life and has regrets because you didn’t take action. This is your time. This is the time to tap into that inherent greatness inside of you and take action.

So who’s it going to be? If not you, then who? If not now, when? Legends are made of ordinary people who dare to do extraordinary things. So stop looking around our profession for leaders and become one. The future of chiropractic depends on it.

Dr. Adam J Del Torto is a 1984 Graduate of NYCC. He is the founder and developer of a specialized "balloon assisted" cranial adjusting technique called Cranial Facial Release (CFR). CFR often works on last resort patients who have not responded to other forms of conventional treatment.
