www.amchiropractor.com (Re: Page 64; Volume 25, Issue 5) Your September/October issue included a message from Tim Bolen that may place your readers at risk if they repeat it. Bolen was hired by Hulda Clark to destroy my reputation. (Clark is an unlicensed naturo-path who falsely claims that all cancers are caused by a parasite, and that she can cure cancer, AIDS, and many other serious diseases, sometimes within a few hours.) I am suing both of them for libel, and the judge has ruled that I have a high probability of prevailing. I have also sued several others who repeated Bolen's false and defamatory statements. One case was settled out of court for S50,000 and two others are pending. I don't enjoy filing such suits, but I am very diligent about protecting my reputation. Through the discovery process, we have learned that Clark paid Bolen over S140,000 for "public relations" work, which included distributing false and defamatory statements to the effect that I am emotionally disturbed, professionally incompetent, and engaged in criminal activity. Bolen's communications are intended to damage my reputation and injure me financially. The message you published misrepresents several events, as well as what I said in a deposition in my suit against him. Readers who would like to understand what he does can read about him atJitlp;//www.quackwatch.org/l 1 Ind/bolen.html and about Clark at http://www.quackwatcJh.org/Caacer/darJdimi. It is one thing to disagree with someone's views. It is quite another to attempt to assassinate someone's character by spreading false information. I appreciate this opportunity to clarify the situation. Stephen Barrelt, M.D.
