If You Want More, Do More
By Lee Wood, DC
What is the distance between someone who achieves their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following or getting by? The extra mile.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.” Be motivated daily.
Use the HOP, write daily goals, and do what you do for a higher purpose. It leads to becoming inspired from the inside out, and it’s even stronger and longer-lasting than motivation.
“If you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act. Action will delineate and define you.”
Actions speak louder than words.
“Often, people attempt to live their lives backward. They try to have more things or more money in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do in order to have what you want.”
“God does not need our good works, but our neighbor and community do.”
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.”
“Begin somewhere, anywhere — just get started. You cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do.”
“I’m not a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the luckier I get.”
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.”
“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Fortune favors courage.
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” Change is necessary for growth and can be a bit uncomfortable.
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Be a possibility thinker. Think about what could possibly go right and look for the opportunities. Say, “I get to do this,” instead of, “I have to do this.”
“We must be willing, in a sense, to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
“Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.”
There are three words that come together — justice, mercy, and grace. Justice is getting what you deserve; mercy is not getting what you deserve; and grace is getting what you don’t deserve.
Just because the past didn’t turn out like you wanted, it doesn’t mean your future can’t turn out better than you imagined.
If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
Do more. Do it differently. Start now!
