In this issue... It's August and our 9th issue this year! Considering for the past few years TAC printed 7 issues per year, we're all very excited to be reaching you more frequently and, by your feedback, it's even more exciting to realize that we're making a positive difference at a much faster pace in the profession. With each monthly issue of TAC, it is our continuous goal to bring you information you can put into action today to get better results for your patients. I'm proud to say that this issue is jam packed with usable information on a variety of issues that are affecting your patients. From hamstring strain and tendonitis, to ACL Injury treatments, this edition of TAC enables you to help correct these and many other related conditions that, from the patient's perspective, are not commonly thought of as "chiropractic" concerns. You'll find these articles in our special "Sports, Exercise, and Rehab" section beginning on page 14, as well as from our regular columnists, Dr. John Danchik, on page 50 and Drs. Roger Coleman and Steve Troyanovich on page 56. Also, a very useful tool for your patients is the technique information on soft tissue healing by Dr. Warren Hammer in his article, "The Benefits of Instrument-assisted Soft-tissue Mobilization", on page 40. And, on page 42, Dr. Ronald Grisanti shares "The Most Effective Non-Surgical Treatment for Sports-Related Injuries" which also addresses soft tissue mobilization done manually. Now for the interviews! We've gone all out this issue in bringing you four interviews spanning the spectrum of chiropractic and beyond to bring you the medical perspective as well. To begin, on page 16, you can gain some insight into the perspective of a medical doctor. Dr. Thomas DePuydt, who's been successfully integrating chiropractic (along with many other healthcare professionals) in his sports medicine practice for over 20 years. Next, the ICA's newest president, Dr. John Maltby, is featured on page 28 to share his history and direction for chiropractic as the new leader of one of the nation's largest chiropractic associations. Moving on, the University of Bridgeport's Chiropractic College President, Neil Albert Salonen, fills us in on the latest happenings on campus on page 58. Finally, "On the State Level" we catch up with Florida Chiropractic Association's CEO, Debra Brown, for our annual look at what's going on in one of the largest and most active state associations and how it may affect you nationwide on page 60. Looking worldwide, The American Chiropractor s CHIROPRACTIC '06 International Symposium in the Republic of Panama is gaining support and creating excitement. With over 16 chiropractic techniques being presented (and more still being added), as well as several techniques on nutrition, alternative healing, and coding and compliance, this event is quickly becoming known as THE place to be if you want to keep abreast of the latest techniques and developments in chiropractic and healing.
