The action oriented quality that POWER Play in Sports© provides is the key ingredient that separates this program from all the others. The Professional Development Modules takes the learner through each of the critical steps of scheduling, implementing and performing outstanding community workshops to ensure maximum success. The goal is to improve the public health, specifically the youth athlete by providing education that help young athletes heal faster, prevent future injuries, and maximize sports performance. So many times coaches and parents aren’t sure how to assess a need and make the right decision for a child that is injured or ill. We are training healthcare

providers to teach coaches and parents who to contact, and when and how to help address youth athletic injury challenges with greater confidence.”

The American Chiropractor Magazine (TAC) interviewed Dr. Jay Greenstein, Dr. Alan Sokoloff and Dr. Spencer Baron to get a better idea of all the facets of this groundbreaking program.

TAC: Who’s involved in POWERPlay?

Dr. Greenstein: Spencer Baron, chiropractor for the Miami Dolphins, Dr. Alan Sokoloff, chiropractor for the Baltimore Ravens, and Dr. Jay Greenstein, chiropractor for the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, are the principles of POWERPlay in

“How can we positively affect more of

the population and be successful in branding an image that what we do WORKS?!”

Sports. In addition, Dr. Cindy Howard is our MVP Corporate Relations Liaison, who has been instrumental in helping us grow our key strategic partnerships.

TAC: Tell me about POWERPlay In Sports. How did it come to be?

Dr. Baron: The pain that this profession goes through on a daily basis is summarized by the following question. “How can we positively affect more of the population and be successful in branding an image that what we do WORKS?!”

What is obvious to us is how an enormous percentage of multi-mega million dollar athletes demand the skills of a chiropractor at all stages of the game. Yet, it is the best kept secret...

Thus, Chiropractic must tap into the sports world to be the best vehicle for the image and promotion of this profession. Since we three knew this and in some capacity were doing this on our own, it was just a matter of time that we merge our contacts,

creativities, and our unique attributes and put them to good use. We are determined to leave a legacy that this profession and each doctor of chiropractic can be proud of.

It was obvious that we had something enormous to offer. We had an opportunity to create a winning strategy that could fill a void in every athletic community in the country.

By creating a turnkey approach to lecturing on the four hottest topics in sports, we can get Chiropractors at all levels of education and specialization to unite in a manner that provides Coaches, Parents and Athletes with a consistent education on Concussion, Dehydration, Sports Injuries and Nutrition.

The momentum is building, because we created an educational “performance,” not just a seminar, or a class, or a lecture, we wanted to tap into the level of “edu-tainment” that this country is thriving on. Energetic, entertaining, sophisticated and evidenced based information that earmarks the best way to leam and brand the doctor as the go-to healthcare provider in the community.

By 2013, we had a GamePlan Manual, 4 Sets of Slides, endorsements from several professional sports figures, Implementation Acumen, Marketing Strategies for every Chiropractor. At this point, we decided to break away from the original, mundane business plan / venture and unleash our talents in what we referred to as “Providing Outstanding Wellness Education for Remarkable [P.O.W.E.R.] Play in Sports.

Due to Dr. Jay, Dr. Sok’s and my tenure and outstanding reputations and relationships in the profession, our colleagues were cheering us on. Doors were opening as fast as we were coming up with the ideas on who we felt needed this product most.

With a robust, data collection capability to our website, we knew that marketing the Chiropractor to their communities was exactly what the profession needed to make a grand entrance and image building process for the athletic-minded community on the National stage.

TAC: What does it represent for athletes? And for Chiropractors?

Dr. Sokoloff: POWERPlay provides the answers to commonly asked questions on the 4 subjects of Concussion, Dehydration, Sports Injuries and Nutrition. Given the tongue-n-cheek comment, “with 60,000 licensed Chiropractors worldwide, there are 60,000 different forms of treatment,” therefore, it was extremely important that we devise a way to provide the public with a consistent message across the country, as well as, keeping the evidence current on each of the constantly evolving subjects. Caring, confidence and trust in the information and message that POWERPlay created for the doctor is paramount to our collective success.

Once the doctor gets his certification of completion of the 8 hour POWERPlay program, the doctor becomes a National SAFE Instni ct or [Supporting Athletes and Families through Education] and part of our database.

We represent a community of Chiropractors that will take on the effort to nurture our image through constant, high-quality messaging.

Simple recipe:

Help the community...

1) The athlete, paient and coach

2) The Chiropractor

3) The Chiropractic Profession

... and the community will help you.

TAC: What are some of the allegiances you've been able to gain since the inception of the program?

Dr. Greenstein: We’ve been very fortunate to have established some very strong relationships and allegiances to move this program forward. First and foremost, state chiropractic associations have been very responsive to us partnering with them. It’s been a great way for doctors to not only get CEU’s, but also get critical information they need to go out into the community and become the subject matter expert and teacher of concussion, injury prevention, dehydration and sports nutrition. In addition, FutureHealth Software has been a great corporate sponsor of ours. Because their goal is to create the clinic of the future, and we want to ensure the future success of doctors of chiropractic, it’s a perfect strategic alliance. Lastly, we’re building strong strategic partnerships with companies in the medical device and business logistics management and finance categories to provide potential additional revenue streams for doctors of chiropractic. 2015 is going to be a great year for POWERPlay All-Access Pass Doctors!

TAC: Does it provide Certification?

Dr. Sokoloff: PPIS provides a Certificate of Completion. There is no formal “Certification”. POWERPlay In Sports will not certify or teach you how to diagnose and treat concussions, nor will it provide you all the information to do be a nutritional consultant. PPiS gives you the information and all the tools to perform public service in your community by providing coaches, parents and kids with the most up to date, evidenced based, presentations on prevention. There are great post graduate programs out there that can “certify” you in any number of fields that can help you on the practice side.
