Why Concept-Therapy®?

A critical question that every doctor of chiropractic eventually must face, regardless of technique or level of financial satisfaction, is: Why can’t I heal this patient? The question can be most perplexing if you’ve previously treated the same condition with success.

The answer may be as simple as understanding this D.D. Palmer maxim: “Disease is a disturbed condition, not a thing or entity.” As chiropractors, we adjust the subluxation and expect the cause has been corrected, but have we treated the “whole man,” woman, or child?

Every patient has three aspects: the physical person, the mental, and the spiritual, or essence. The “disturbed condition” may reside in any portion of the patient’s experience, causing vertebral subluxation, which D.D. Palmer said always occurs with any underlying cause and the presentation of functional dis-ease.

The patient who finds no allopathic remedy for an incurable condition often embraces chiropractic care as a last resort and finds healing. Case histories like these abound regardless of technique, so was it the adjustment or some elusive principle that restored the “disturbed condition” to a state of vitality?

In 1931, Dr. Thurman Fleet, DC, asked himself,“Why wasn’t this patient healed?” His chiropractic practice in San Antonio, Texas, was widely known, requiring traffic lights to be installed at his clinic because of the constant flow of patients seeking his care. However, this patient failed to experience the desired results, unlike the three previous patients with the same condition and same treatment.

This question led him on a journey that enriched the profession in immeasurable ways as he searched for methods to bring superior healing results to the field of chiropractic. His most significant contribution was his relentless search and correlation of the principles inherent in healing, resulting in his iconic philosophy of Concept-Therapy.

Regardless of preferred technique, through the understanding of the basic tenets presented in this comprehensive explanation of the power that heals and his original course in Zone Healing, Dr. Fleet inspired a legacy of teaching and healing through his Concept-Therapy Institute that continues to empower chiropractors across the globe.

Principles are not based on theory; they are based in fact. Chiropractic, as it was presented by D.D. Palmer and later by BJ. Palmer, investigated certain principles relating to the whole person and pronounced them undeniable in understanding the relationship between doctor and patient as it relates to the healing process. That was the beginning of chiropractic philosophy.

Dr. Thurman Fleet identified this relationship as the composite personality. That single principle taught in Concept-Therapy unlocks unimagined horizons of healing for any doctor who sincerely applies it in practice.

If you present a professional clinic and perform cutting-edge techniques, but “something” is holding you back from superior healing success, perhaps it is time to investigate Concept-Therapy. Other well-known successful chiropractic technique programs began with their studies and understanding of Concept-Therapy.
